• Some of the many events and programs that take place at our school:

    Welcome Back Assembly- Principal and Assistant Principal welcome back student to their school. The assembly touches on rules and expectation for the academic year, in addition principal and assitant principal encourage students to give input. 

    School Beautification Day- students and staff join together on a saturday morning every school year to plant flowers, clean out weeds and take care of our school grounds and school garden.

    Patriot Day- Students, and staf join in a school wide celebration of Patriot Day

    Red Ribbon Week- Every October, a week is dedicated to promoting a positive, bully free and drug free school. A series of event and activitites are planned in individual classrooms as well as school wide. 

    Sunset Center Visit- Students attend a Sunset Center performance, this is brought by the Kennedy Center Partners in Education program

    Fall Festival- In November Fall Festival takes place giving entertainment for the community, raising money for field trips and school use 

    Career Day-  4-6th grade students particiapte in Career Day; a day in each professionals are invited to attend informational sessions for students. Students come prepared to ask questions and learn more about the professionals present. This programs is soon to expand to all grade levels. 

    College Visit- As a follow-up to Career Day, 6th graders visit California State University, Monterey Bay to get a glimps of a college campus and college environment

    Junior Achievement (JA)- In December, Kinder students participate in financial literacy program; 1st-6th participate in a partnership with North Monterey County High School, this is aligned with common core

    Santa’s Workshop- Santa's workshop is brought to the school by the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)

    Movie Night- In January, parents/guardians and students enjoy some family bonding at school 

    MLK Flag Ceremony- during this event students are actively speaking about their goal and dreams

    Spelling Bees- from January to February each grade level host their own spelling bee this leads to the county spelling bee for 4-6th graders

    Second Grade Patriotic Program- Second grade students prepare songs and parents attend the students' performance in February

    Science Fair-  5-6th grade students prepare to expose thier science projects, fellow students attend the exposition and ask questions to the students presentor. Parents are invited to attend the exposition in the evening

    Family Reading Night- In March, families are invited to attend a reading in celebration and memorance of Dr. Seuss’ birthday

     Arial Theatre Seussical- 6th grade students attend Seussical as a celebration of Dr. Seuss' birthday

    Constitution Presentation-  4-6th graders enjoy a constitution presentation from the county office in March every year

    4th Grade Mission Fair- 4th grade students present their studies of the California Missions to the school, students attend during the day and parents/guardians are invited to attend as well a

    Jump Rope for Heart- schoolwide involvement for healthy living and healthy habits 

    Lunchtime Soccer with CSUMB- CSUMB students visited during lunchtime to teach and play soccer

     Girl Scout Program- this lunch time program is brought by a community partnership

     Zunzun Assembly- this assembly focussed on water conservation and makes the connection with the school's team against plastic pollution 

    Family Math Night- a night filled with numbers, equations and solutions.

    Wackadoo Zoo Play- first grade students welcome parents and staff to the Wackadoo Zoo!

    6th Grade Science Camp- 6th grade students learn about science in the mountains of Santa Cruz, CA

    School Wide Field Day- all grade levels head out to the field to go through activities of skipping, running and jumping

    Child Safety Presentation- students in Kinder, 3rd and 6th grade are presented with a safety presentation 

    Monterey County Reads- Students from Central Bay High School visit the school to read to students, this is part of the Panetta Institute at CSUMB, this is a year-long program
