NMCHS Community: 

North Monterey High School takes immense pride in its commitment to providing students with a wide range of opportunities to engage in school spirit teams. With three distinct levels of cheer participation - pep squad club, sideline cheer club, and competitive cheer under the athletic program - students can explore their passion for school spirit and cheerleading while fostering school pride and engaging all of our students that continue to have the drive to showcase their school student. 

We would like to address an important matter regarding the participation and recognition of the Pep Squad and Sideline Cheer Clubs at North Monterey High School (NMCHS). Our current Cheer Advisor is finishing the year with the current members of the clubs/teams for personal reasons. In preparation for next school year, it is crucial that all student clubs, including Sideline and Pep Squad Cheer Clubs, adhere to the proper protocols and requirements outlined by our esteemed Associate Student Body (ASB). These criteria include the appointment of a certified staff advisor, completion of ASB forms, and a thorough understanding of the appropriate procedures for fundraising activities. It is imperative that all clubs operate in accordance with these protocols to ensure the success and sustainability of their initiatives.

At this time, the Pep Squad and Sideline Cheer Clubs are seeking a Certificated Advisor for the upcoming school year which is required to complete the approval process through the ASB Club Charter and Constitution found here. The site administration is currently providing oversight of the process for identifying next year's participants and certificated advisors for the Pep Squad and Sideline Cheer Clubs. 

We understand that this has caused some confusion among the students, parents, and community members regarding the Pep Squad and Sideline Cheer Clubs for next school year. It is important to distinguish clubs and the integrity of our club system under ASB compared to our Athletic Program, run under our local league rules for the Competitive Cheer Team. We encourage the students who are interested in continuing the Pep Squad and Sideline Cheer Club to take this opportunity to reflect on the requirements and work towards meeting them for the upcoming school year.

We would like to reassure you that our Athletic Competitive Cheer is within our School Athletic budget for the upcoming school year. We will continue to follow the league's process to obtain members to fill the team in accordance with the rules and timelines beginning next school year.

We remain committed to providing a vibrant and inclusive extracurricular environment for our students. We invite all interested individuals to explore the various clubs and activities available at NMCHS, as there are numerous opportunities for involvement and personal growth.

We encourage everyone to participate in positive ways so our community can support our extensive cheer opportunities in our school.
