• Parenting and Play

    Free classes for parents and children 0-3 years of age from August through June (vacation period in July). Parents enjoy playtime with their children to learn about child development while experiencing activities together.

    • Tuesdays, 10:00am - 12:00pm at Moro Cojo El Cerrito Community Room, 8860 Vista de Tierra Circle, Castroville
    • Thursdays, 9:00am - 11:00am & 12:00pm - 2:00pm at Castro Plaza FRC, 10601 McDougall Street, Castroville
    • Fridays, 12:30pm - 2:30pm at Prunedale Elementary School Room 38, 17719 Pesante Road, Prunedale

    Parents as Teachers

    Parents are their children's first and most influential teachers. The early years of a child's life are critical for optimal development and provide the foundation for success in school and life. Free bi-weekly home visits by a Parent Educator to families with children 0-3 years of age. During home visits the Parent Educator provides an individualized age-appropriate lesson focused on parenting goals,which may include nutrition, health, sleep, safety, hearing, and vision.

    Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors

    Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors is a school readiness program that strengthens the leadership and advocacy skills of parents with children ages 0 to 5. The curriculum is based on popular education and draws on the real life experiences of participants.

    Positive Discipline

    Positive Discipline is designed to teach young people to become responsible, respectful and resourceful members of their communities by teaching important social and life skills in a manner that is deeply respectful and encouraging for both children and adults.
